Ethnic Variety in Farmers

Not all farmers are the same. Not only do farmers make different choices about how to farm but they have different backgrounds and are made up of different races and ethnicities!
Laurence Simmons is an African American farmer from Knox County. As a member of the farming community, Lawrence values the friends and neighbors that have been there to help and support him over the past sixty years. As one of the few African American farmers, he has formed friendships both in the African American and in the farming community.

Everybody I am sure has had some unpleasant experiences sometime regardless of race. I am satisfied with what I have done and it hasn't always been easy, but the community has always been good to me. I don't care what anybody says, you can't do it on your own.
