Immigrants to the New World

The Blanchard family can trace their ancestry back to a small little town in Undervelier, Bern, Switzerland. Pictured on the left is Laurent Blanchard, a stone mason and farmer. On the right is Laurent's wife, Marguerite, also of Undervelier, Bern, Switzerland. In 1847, the couple moved to Glenmont, in Holmes County, Ohio, with their eldest three children while seven other children were born in the United States. Among their ten children was a son named Victor.
