The National Endowment for the Humanities Distinguished Teaching Professorship

The Hall farm

The Family Farm Project is made possible by a National Endowment for the Humanities Distinguished Teaching Professorship awarded to Howard L. Sacks. Dr. Sacks, professor of sociology at Kenyon College, conceived of a project that would bring together the arts, sciences, and humanities into a holistic study of family farming. In this way, The Family Farm Project differs from agriculture programs at many state universities that focus more narrowly on farm economics and the use of scientific technology. The project also seeks to engage students, faculty, and county residents in discussions about the character of our community and our responsibilities as local citizens.
