• Provides water in an arid land

NEGATIVE EFFECTS:

• Facilitated urban sprawl
• Denies Native Americans religious freedom
• Encourages development
• Forced some towns to relocate
• Takes away the sacred symbols (found in nature; salmon, land formations) around which Native American cultures are based
• Takes away and limits the ways Native Americans sustain themselves (land taken away)
• Unjustly forced a new way of life upon Native Americans
• Deaths during the construction process
