Assignment 12: Monday, November 14
1. Read Blumenthal, Understanding Jewish Mysticism, vol. 2, 3-23 on your own. As you read,
outline the most important points.
2. Either with your study partner or individually, write down what you believe the main points to be (note: the
4 points provided by Blumenthal at the end are not a complete summation of the chapter). Also write down one philosophical
term you had a difficult time with, and write a short definition of it. Note: philosophers often use general words
like "intelligence" but affix a different meaning to it, so a dictionary definition won't always help.
3. Hand in: original outline (may be handwritten), typed summary of main points, philosophical
term and definition.
