Instructional Guide
Student activities:
What do you think "democracy" really means and in what ways do you
think that America is democratic or undemocratic?
Separate into two groups-- one democratic and one republican. Debate who you think should win in the next presidential election and why. What are the important issues and what do the candidates say about those issues? Try to convince your teacher to vote for your political party.
Teacher's guide:
Identify new grammatical constructions in the video clip and practice them with
the students. Clarify any grammar or vocabulary from the video clip that the
students do not understand.
Talk about what type of candidate you would like to vote for or whom you support in the next election using the new grammar and vocabulary. Ask the students to take turns contributing their own opinions on the subject.
