Student activities:
Bring an advertisement from a magazine to class. Explain to your classmates
why you like or dislike that advertisement. Does the advertisement make you
want to buy the product it is selling?
Role play. Choose a product and try to persuade your classmates to purchase it. Compete with eachother to make your product most desirable. Determine who is the best salesperson in the class.
Teacher's guide:
Identify new grammatical constructions in the video clip and practice them with
the students. Clarify any grammar or vocabulary from the video clip that the
students do not understand.
Find a Chinese advertisement (perhaps on the internet) and bring it to class.Ask them what they think of the advertisement and whether they understand it. Explain any cultural differences which may make the advertisement difficult to understand.
Bring a product (or several products) to class and ask each student to come up with a short sentence to advertise that product. Decide as a class which sentence is best.
