Box-Cox Transformations - A general family of power transformations (Download and install MASS package)

• General form of Box-Cox transformations
• R will provide the MLE of lamda (see Plasma.R)
• CIs and PIs with R
• Only slight adjustments are needed to make simultaneous interval estimates - see Chapter 4

In Class Exercise

• Use R to apply the transformations in 3.36 to evaluate SSE for different values of lamda. One way to do this is with the geometric mean command in the psyc package.

We will have a problem session on Monday and then move into Chapter 4.
