• Find the probability distribution for Z = the number of turns required to get out of jail in the game Monopoly.
  • Identify the mean and variance of a geometric random variable.

  • Example - A couple wants to have 3 girls. Find the probability distribution for the number of children they must have to fulfill this desire. What is the mean number of children required?

  • Example - Let T be the time we have to wait until the next bus comes along. Assume that the next bus arrives at a time which is "equally likely" to be anywhere in the next 10 minutes.
    • What is the p.d.f of T?
    • What is the c.d.f. of T?
