Sampling Distributions

• The sampling distribution of a statistic is the distribution of values which the statistic takes on in repeated sampling.
• Our tools from Chapters 3 and 4 can be used to describe sampling distributions.

Activity dealing with Sampling Variability

Sampling Bowl - What proportion of the beads are red?

• Create a Minitab worksheet with three columns:
  1. C1 (R25) = the number of red beads out of 25
  2. C2 (R50) = the number of red beads out of 50
  3. C3 (R100) = the number of red beads out of 100
• Create three new columns (P25, P50, and P100) with the appropriate sample proportions.
• Compare the three simulated sampling distributions
