The First Knox County Settlers

Laurence Victor Blanchard and his wife, Florence Engle Blanchard, came to Knox County and rented a farm close to what is now the Blanchard family farm in Howard. In 1915, they bought four acres from George M. Johnson and later added about fifty acres from Ed and Linnie Yost and William M. McDowell. The Blanchards had five children. The second oldest was Corwin, who later bought and expanded the farm he bought from his parents.
