House of
Flying Dodgeballs
This one’s a
few steps away from the usual, but a change
can be good now and then. Modeled after Tang martial arts,
the House of Flying Dodgeballs
focuses principally on
communication and team work.
As usual, Gameplay follows the same basic rules. In this
version, however, the players wear blindfolds. Don’t stop
reading yet.
In addition to the
standard number of players, each team
retains one member without a blindfold. This player can
fetch balls and instruct teammates, but cannot
throw, catch,
or block balls. On the plus side, he cannot be
eliminated.
In order to win, the
seers must aid their blind teammates
toward the destruction of the other team. Worthy of note,
the seers may not make physical contact with
their
teammates--one shouldn’t aim a canon that he has
no
intention of
firing! Like most varieties, the
game ends
when one team eliminates every blindfolded member
of the
opposing team.
On occasion, players
have altered the rules so that the
seer may be eliminated or have chosen to play in
the snow.
Without exception,
these alterations have failed. Just
ask
poor Elisa, who felt a sting no Tang warrior
could dish out.
