(Kenyon Intramural Dodgeball League)
The Final
Countdown
If you’re
looking for a real workout, or cardiac arrest,
The Final Countdown presents perhaps the
fastest paced
dodgeball action around. This variation also supports
small teams of two or three players.
In general, the
Gameplay follows the standard rules, except
that the team objective shifts from eliminating
the
opposing team to accumulating a higher score within a
set
amount of time.
In this game, a player
gains points for his team by
eliminating members of the opposing team. Depending on
your tastes, different methods of elimination
(hits,
catches, head shots
etc.) may be assigned different point
values before the
game, or the point values may
periodically
increase as the game progresses.
Unlike other
variations, a player does not leave the court
when
eliminated. Though he becomes
inactive upon
elimination, he
needs only to return to the back wall of
his side of the
court to reenter the match, and he is
immune to attack
until that point. Thus, no extra
points
will be awarded if a
team eliminates a player more than
once before he has re-entered the game.
Some choose however,
to amend this rule in favor of a more
constant game. That is, players need not re-activate to
get out again or eliminate a foe. Decide beforehand your
preference and adjust
your strategy accordingly!
Play begins when the
clock starts ticking and ends when the
allotted time runs out. Some enthusiasts choose to play
with music, and instead compete for the duration
of a given
number of songs. The means of keeping track of the time
offers a good deal of flexibility.
In official matches,
interference by inactive players may
be grounds for removal at the moderator’s
discretion. A
player must first re-activate before sticking his
face (...)
in others’
affairs.
