Ballroom Minutes by Dawn Cyrene Patience :o)
Present: David, Sara, Becca, Me, Grace, Ksenia, and Becky (later

Taryn and David to be removed)
BEWARE these are long notes, but the important stuff is at
the end. IF you
want to miss the random stuff that happened during the meeting
skip the first
LONG paragraph thingy. :o)
-Discussion of room (the little room attached to Lower Dempsey)
it is
approved
-We must write thank you notes for each dress we received
-In note we must describe dress
-We must also send them to Kay Teague (spelling?) so she can send
them
onwards
-Dress description discussed
-Decided to attach a post-it note to the card describing the dress
in
detail
-Ksenia will email to resolve unclear issue
-Discussion of Saved by the Bell WHY????
-cuteness of actors/actresses discussed
-is one a porn star? In Playboy? Who is this??? Dawn was confused
-Taryn hunt discussed Ksenia will go find her
-Dawn leaves to go get more soup and Becca takes over responsibility

-U of M was last semster and Case got a new teacher who doesn,t
do comps
cause their old International teacher got pregnant and probably
had her baby

-Notre Dame (6 hrs of driving in Southbend IL, 28-9 March) 28th

Ksenia,s B-day

-Carnegie Mellon (Pittsburgh PA, Scotch Ball, 4 hrs of driving)

Minutes: 25 March 2003
Attendance: Becca, Ksenia, David, Taryn, Me, and some other people
Thursday is the housing lottery, but it should be over before
practice starts,
but if it runs over, we obviously gave them the ballroom!
If you are going to OSU you need to tell Taryn who you are dancing with ASAP
Issue brought up: Not enough dancing at practice we will try
to have more
teachers available
(Dawn,s personal opinion not club sanctioned There is always a
music
player in the ballroom and CD,s aren,t too hard to find, so just
go and dance
around you don,t need a teacher! In fact, dance is more fun without
a
teacher!)
April 18 (The Friday before Easter) We have a dance

***Important stuff: Advisor discussion
-Blick will sign our forms, but feels guilty.
-We will send an allemp looking for staff or faculty with ballroom
experience
and/or knowhow
-Backup plan: Professor Bennett and Patrick Gilligan said they'll
co-advise
-Why we need an advisor:
1. Someone to sign form -- preferably someone who knows the school
2. Need this person (hopefully with influence and power) to help
us get space,
become a team, hold a competition
-Jody Vance? She actually runs the school...
-Prof Shutt used to be our advisor back in the day, apparently
***Our last Igor lesson is Sunday

***Talk to Joseph about storage space so that Ksenia can have
a closet and the
dresses don't have to live in her garage.

***People were apparently scared of Igor this year.
-They find him intimidating.
-We might ask him to teach something not hard for the 1st couple
lessons.
-OR- 1st few weeks, have Igor on Mondays in the dance studio for
comp team
-Even if you have seminar, Igor will get there 1/2 hour late,
so you'll only
miss 15 min of the lesson
-Ease the new people into ballroom with social and basic American
-Have Igor prep the rest of us for comps
-Grace declares this idea "Brilliant!"
