For several years I commuted through the beautiful countryside between Columbus and Knox County. The views were modest by any normal measure of landscape: no mountains, no big sky, no barren desert, just gently rolling hills or completely flat farmlands. I came to love these views and I bonded with the subtle, sometimes monochromatic scenery as it drifted through the seasons. Eventually, I began to stop and tried to capture some of what captured me. Because I felt my attraction to the scenes was idiosyncratic, I approached the landscapes with the idea of pushing them a bit beyond what was actually in front of me, beyond how I had previously thought of landscapes. These prints exhibited here are the first that I’ve made from the project.
