Welcome to the Math 106 (Elements of Statistics) course website!

This course provides an introduction to statistics. Please see the course syllabus (Section 1, Section 2) for basic course information including grading policies, exam dates, and expectations.

In Math 106, students will:

  • Become familiar with statistical methods, and use them to analyse data
  • Use technology (specifically, the R software package) to solve problems and investigate statistical phenomena
  • Refine quantitative reasoning skills
  • Develop the ability to communicate mathematics through writing
  • Develop teamwork skills

Math 106 does satisfy Kenyon's quantitative reasoning (QR) requirement. There are no prerequisites for the course. Additionally, students who have earned a 4 or 5 on the AP Statistics exam are qualified and encouraged to enroll directly in Math 206.
