Lindy Hop: term coined in 1928, dance developed in 1926-27
Jitterbug: noun. someone who enjoyed swing music and dance. This termed was said to have been used by Cab Calloway, a Cotton Club and Savoy Ballroom regular in 1932. By 1938 it was the name of the dance that was basically a slightly less intense version of the Lindy Hop.Swing: Though the music and culture of swing developed from the mid 1920's on, the first historically tracable reference to the use of the term was in the movie "Swing Out" in 1930.
