The Speech of Dante Alighieri

Love is something to fall for, not surmount
unlike the plight of Dido and Aeneas
the sweetness of love can only improve you.
Without a taste, you'll never understand.
Love is a journey, a pathway, like life
and human reason takes you just so far.
Divine love brings salvation to the soul.
Beatrice is a window to God; open to all
for everybody has a Beatrice.
Heaven, the ideal city, nurtures love.
You give to others but never lose a thing.
More love, more knowledge is in the world
and you can see God reflected in others.
The absolute antithesis is hell.
Individuality alone
destroys community and also love.
Those who don't know love are three parts dead.
Salvation comes as a vision of love.
Each has a particular vision
but everyone has a way to make it there.
