Staff Description and Profile

Administered by the Kenyon College Department of Art and Art History and the Office of the Provost, the Olin Art Gallery is staffed by Dan Younger, Director and Doug McGlumphy, Gallery Assistant.

Also a Visiting Assistant Professor of Art History, Dan Younger offers a survey course in the History of Photography and a seminar in Museum Studies. Younger has worked extensively with museums and visual arts organizations, specializing in collection management, curating, educational programming, strategic planning, grant-writing, fundraising and publications. Doug McGlumphy is also Director of the Olin Art Gallery at William and Jefferson College, and is Preparator at the College of Wooster Ebert Art Center.

The Olin Art Gallery director is assisted by students at Kenyon College through its work study program. Gallery assistants offer preparatory and office help. Tasks include installation, deinstallation, packing, receptions, artist correspondence, planning and filing, website technical assistance, and signage formatting and design. Gallery assistants for the 2007-2008 academic year include: Laura Czarnecki, Roxanne Smith, Steve Klise, Richard Freund, Colleen Halpin, Emily Bierman, Eugene Rutigliano, Elizabeth Johnson, Louisa Hartigan, Nora Pencheva, Carol Ditmars and Selene Rosenberg.

The Olin Art Gallery website was begun with the assistance of students enrolled in the 1998-1999 and 1999-2000 Museum Studies seminars. Technical work study assistance for 2007-2008 was provided by Steve Klise and Roxanne Smith.
